My name is Nicole MacAvelia and I established C.O.R.E Dance Project in August 2008.
I grew up taking dance lessons in the town of New Hamburg at Centre Stage Dance Studio Inc.
I have completed my dance exams with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association in both Jazz and Tap. My Ballet training is through the Russian Society of Ballet. I have competed in numerous competitions throughout Canada and the United States. Growing up, I lived at the studio! I helped with as many classes as I could, I cleaned the studio and loved every minute of it.
When I finished High School, I went onto Wilfrid Laurier University where I earned my Bachelor Of Science in Psychology. I had fully intended on going to teachers’ college, but my love of dance took over! I started teaching at Attitudes in Dance during my first year of university. I taught Recreational and Competitive level students and absolutely loved it and decided that was going to be my future.
I took on a Full Time “Day Job” doing Sales and Marketing for a Fitness Company in Kitchener. That job has given me the confidence to run the studio effectively and efficiently. I continued teaching every evening. The Director taught me everything she knew from teaching, to running the business to being an amazing part of my life! She and her students gave me the confidence to branch out on my own and open CORE.
In 2005 I married the man of my dreams and in 2007 we had our amazing daughter Rhese. During my Maternity Leave was when I really focused on getting CORE up-and-running. In 2008 I started running classes once a week out of the Paris Presbyterian Church in Paris to see if there was a market for dance in Paris. I really wanted to create a small-town school like the one I grew up at. I continued teaching at Attitudes in Dance and taught at Centre Stage Dance Studio. My Monday nights were amazing! I was able to share my passion for dance with bright new faces of all ages.
The studio has grown into my dream come true. I absolutely love running the studio and educating dancers of all ages and abilities. I wish I could teach every class myself but unfortunately, I can’t. I have made it my priority to bring on teachers with the same passion and drive that I have. We are so blessed to have an outstanding Faculty of teachers to train our dancers. We continue to attend as many workshops as we can to stay on-top of the ever-changing world of dance.
I loved training at a small-town school which provided lots of interaction with the community. It’s my goal to provide dancers in Paris and surrounding areas with quality training in a fun, enthusiastic yet structured environment. I want to provide my students with the proper foundation to become strong and healthy dancers
