Feature Teacher of the Week
Meet Miss Nakita
Miss Nakita has been with us since Season 7!! We are so lucky to have Miss Nakita’s passion, dedication, crazy energy, enthusiasm, creativity and hands on approach to teaching on our C.O.R.E Faculty. She is SO loved and appreciated by all of her students.
Nakita started dancing at the age of 3 where the stage soon became her favourite place to be. By the age of 5 Nakita started dancing competitively and began winning numerous overalls, special awards, and scholarships. Some of her most impressive wins were; Fifth overall top score of the competition, most destined to succeed award, 2nd and 5th overall solo at the University level, and multiple scholarships to L.A. most prestigious intensives “Be Discovered- Summer in L.A. Superstar intensive”. At the age of 12 Nakita headed off to Germany where she represented Canada in the World Dance Competition, receiving 22nd place out of 66 soloists. From this point forward, she knew that dancing was going to be one of the biggest and most powerful influences in her life.
Nakita has advanced training in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, and hip-hop, and continues to enhance her abilities by attending classes and workshops whenever she can. She has completed her Honours Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo and is a thriving Athletic Therapist & Massage Therapist. She continues to work as a dance teacher, choreographer and dance competition adjudicator. She is a very busy girl!!
Nakita was part of a professional company called “ONE movement Dance Company”. The company was put together to educate, empower, and inspire children and teens through movement and dance. The company used dynamic, and high-energy choreography to unite the student body, and teach them that it only takes one movement to create change in the world and STOP bullying. Nakita performed with this company at many elementary schools throughout Ontario.
This summer, I had the honour of watching Nakita marry her best friend & forever love Tom! I’m hoping we’ll be hearing a baby announcement very soon!!
We are so fortunate to have Miss Nakita as a valued member of our C.O.R.E Family!
Assistant of the Week!
Introducing Miss Chloe
Introducing the amazing Miss Chloe! Miss Chloe is a 10-year-old young lady and this is her first year assisting with classes! Miss Chloe helps Miss Nicole on Tuesday nights with the Munchkin Musical Theatre class as well as the 5/7 Jazz & Musical Theatre class. She always arrives early to help with boots and coats and takes attendance to get the class started! Miss Chloe has so much care and concern for the dancers. She speaks so sweet and gently to them. She demonstrates, helps, and motivates. A few weeks ago, one of the dancers in the class had a sore tooth. Miss Chloe was so kind, compassionate, and concerned. She went and got the dancer some ice and talked to her mom who had come into the studio to make sure her daughter was okay. Miss Chloe then sat with her all cuddled up and held the ice on her face to help her tooth feel better. As Miss Nicole says, “she’s awesome!” You mean the world to our dancers Miss Chloe, and you mean the world to us too! Thank you for all of your help with classes this season!
