The Steenbeek Family Story
Sarah & Rob are a family of 5, with 3 kids – Tristan (15), Brooklyn (10) & Taylor (7).
Life has thrown a lot of curve balls at them lately with the passing of Robs dad in December followed by the passing of His mom in April.
On May 6th Rob was complaining of a sore throat & having difficulties to swallow, thinking it was just strep throat he headed to the local walk in clinic and they determined it wasn’t strep & sent him along to Brantford a general as his blood pressure was extremely high.
Fast forward to today, Rob is in the step down unit at Hamilton General hospital with complete paralysis of his vocal chords, throat & tongue.
Last night he failed his swallow test (meaning he can’t swallow his own saliva and it’s starting to pool in his lungs). They had to move forward and put a feeding tube in.
A CT scan & MRI have been done – they did find a leison but they are still unsure of what the main cause is.
Today they will be consulting with a neuro intervention radiologist to see what the next steps forward are.
As most of us would know, having a spouse out of a job can be extremely stressful – especially when the spouse is the main financial provider. Rob has unpaid sick days as well.
I know many of us are trying to find ways that we can support the Steenbeek’s, and with their blessing we wanted to move forward with this go fund me page to help make their lives a little bit easier as they navigate thru this trying time.
Thank you so much in advance, and we will be posting regular updates on the gofundme page.
